A groundbreaking model bringing dental prevention to aging adults, special needs patients, and underserved communities.
San Francisco, CA — September 9, 2025— Itani Dental today announced the launch of Innovations in Dental Prevention (IDP), a groundbreaking initiative designed to remove barriers to dental care and bring services directly to patients who need them most. By combining portable dental technology, telehealth integration, and coalition-building with medical partners, Itani Dental is redefining how and where dentistry is delivered.
Transformational Care
Through the use of portable dental equipment, digital imaging, advanced scanning, and remote charting, Itani Dental provides accurate diagnostics and continuity of care in nontraditional settings. This includes on-site dentistry for hospital patients requiring urgent dental clearance before critical medical procedures such as cardiac valve replacements and organ transplants.
Delivery of Care — Meeting Patients Where They Are
The IDP model emphasizes “care in place,” delivering services to patients in their homes, hospitals, and long-term care communities within a 50-mile radius of office locations. Concierge dental services are also available for individuals with unique needs, ensuring that patients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, geriatric frailty, or chronic health conditions receive comprehensive and equitable oral health care. Proactive outreach programs, including RDHAP hygiene services, further support populations with specialized health challenges.
Building Coalitions for Holistic Care
Itani Dental’s initiative extends beyond direct service by fostering partnerships across healthcare systems. Collaborating with hospitals, senior care communities, and private practitioners, Itani Dental empowers providers to expand their capacity to care for aging adults and individuals with IDD/DD. The program also creates pathways for General Practice Residents (GPRs) to transition their hospital-based training into community practice, advancing hospital dentistry, house call dentistry, and outreach to underserved populations.
“Dental health is an essential part of overall health, yet too many individuals face unnecessary barriers to care,” said Dr. Samer A. Itani, DDS. “With Innovations in Dental Prevention, we are not only bringing care to patients but also building a stronger coalition of providers committed to inclusivity, accessibility, and excellence.”
